MWSL 2017/2018 Fall Player Registration

Coaches and Managers: Player Registration for winter 2017/18 opens on Wednesday August 9, 2017.

*RGSA members please disregard and have players register on the RGSA website*

Players may click on the Player Registration link and register using the key code provided at the end of this email. Also included in this email is your login and password for your ADMIN LOGIN access.

The cost for registering a player is $50.00. Online payment and e-transfer payment is available.  Please keep in mind that we have gone to a cashless office for safety reasons.  We still accept cheques.

ID Cards – We will be rolling out a new ID card process for this winter season, teams that played spring will be familiar with the new process.  The ID cards will be downloaded from your team page onto your phone or tablet for viewing by the referee at the field. The download will include all paid player ID’s along with the coach ID’s. You will be able to download the ID cards once the schedule is complete and the player has paid the registration fee.

To download the ID cards, you will need to log in with your coach/manager login,

click on team pages,

go to the schedule on your team page and on the far right beside the Match Reports (MR) and Rosters you will see Cards.

Click on cards to download.

The first card that will come up in the download will include the scheduled game details.  The cards will need to be downloaded for each game.  Should any of your players receive a Red Card the ID card will appear still but will have Red Card stamped across it until the game suspensions are completed.

Two printed copies of the MWSL Roster/Team lists are still required for the referee when requested prior to the match commencing along with the ID card download.

Players can play for 6 days after they register online with their email confirmation and picture ID.  If not paid by the 7th day your registration may be cancelled and you may face fines if you choose to play.  Unpaid players are not insured.

I suggest you copy and paste the following instructions to send to your players:

Player Registration Player registration for Fall/Winter soccer is open. Use your Fall login and Password and click Player registration at If you can't remember your password use the forgot password function on the player registration page. Once you have logged in, fill out the online form. You must first enter in the key code. (Please provide your players the key code included) If you are new to the league or do not have a photo uploaded on your profile then add an ID photo when the form prompts you.

The photo is for your ID card so head shots are required with no sunglasses or hats or group photos. If you played last year the uploaded photo will carry over to this year’s card. Change the photo if you are wearing a hat or sunglasses, or the photo is too small and not appropriate for an ID card. No group photos. Click finished when you have completed the form.

New teams to the league have been placed in the Divisions we had room in, and I am still working on some adjustments in some of the divisions so there may still be some changes.

As per the rules we do follow a promotion relegation system so if you are in a new division that is why.

Looking forward to the beginning of a new season! Please be sure to check our website regularly for updates.

Thank you,

Jo-Dee Stanley

Female Referee Comments

We asked the ladies who officiate with MWSL for some of their thoughts.  Here is a taste of what they had to say:

What do you enjoy most about being a Referee?

The challenge of making quick decisions about fairness and safety while running and being part of the games.

Staying involved with the beautiful game after injuries forced me to hang up the (playing) cleats!

Making mistakes is natural but to learn from them is rewarding and a great feeling within.  At the end of the day you get paid to exercise; life doesn’t get any better than that!!

Knowing how hard it is to be a referee, helps me as a player to show more respect for the referee and appreciate the high performing referees.

Being able to give back to the soccer community that has impacted me greatly as I played soccer all my youth.

I enjoy seeing women young and older still playing the great game they love.

As a student, it is really great that I’m able to pick up games when it works for me.

• Reffing also gives me a chance to be outside participating in a sport that I love while making a bit of money on the side!

Every time I show up, I remind myself to be honoured to call myself a referee and I enjoy and accept the challenge to be fully engaged, work as hard as possible and be fair and respectful.

We have Divisions 1 through 4, Premier, Selects and Classics and possibly an over 40’s division if we get enough interest in the Spring League.

Classics - Teams that played in the Classics Premier and Classics Division 1 are asked to go into the open divisions again this year as the classics spring division that is offered is made up of classics division 2 and 3 and we want to keep the competition in that division fair.  Should I receive enough interest in a classics spring division for Classics Premier and Division 1 and the travel time for week day games is reasonable for teams we can look at adding that division.

If you are interested in the Over 40’s division please email me at so I can see how many teams we have interested.  We need 6 teams to make this happen.

Classics Meeting Minutes March 2016

Meeting Minutes

Classics Meeting

March 7th, 2016

Follow up meeting 4 topics for discussion:

1. Promotion and Relegation – Decision starting Fall 2017 there will be promotion for Classics Div 3, and Classics Div 2.  There will be relegation for Classics Div 1 and Classics Div 2.

2. Crossover Play – Decision to have top half of Classics Div 1 Play bottom half of Classics Premier and to reach out to the Selects A and B to see if there is an interest in having crossover play between these divisions and the top half of the Classics Premier division. Games would be considered exhibition games with respect to the standings. Score would be kept but not impact Promotion and relegation.

3. Over 40’s – Decision to form a Spring over 40’s division for Spring Season 2017.  Poco Cougars will be entering a team.  Admin to send out requests to all Classics to see if we can facilitate a competitively balanced and geographically balanced division and if the interest is there to look at keeping this division going in the fall.

4. Encouraging Teams to go to the Classics division – Ongoing work with Admin to ensure we get teams to sign up for classics
